Find me on:

AtlantiCare leverages UbiCare's digital engagement platform to make sure patients never feel alone or abandoned during the COVID-19 crisis.

Now, as they look to the future and the resumption of elective surgeries, AtlantiCare will use SmarteXp® to help patients coordinate new surgery dates and resume preparation for their surgeries and post-surgery recoveries.

Take 3 1/2 minutes to watch, "Here's How We Help AtlantiCare" and learn more about AtlantiCare's journey to support patients both before and throughout their COVID-19 response.

Here's How We Help AtlantiCare

Like many hospitals, AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center experienced massive disruptions as elective surgeries, including the total joint replacements they specialize in, were suspended and resources were reallocated to COVID-19 response.

Beyond the operational and financial disruption, there was a human element as well. Patients who needed surgery, and who were preparing for it both physically and emotionally, were suddenly in limbo.

AtlantiCare leveraged UbiCare's SmarteXp® digital engagement platform to communicate with more than 4000 patients to:

  • Keep them informed of developments
  • Continue to educate them about their upcoming surgeries
  • Make sure they never felt alone or abandoned during the crisis

Even when Melanie Iannace, Musculoskeletal Service Coordinator at AtlantiCare, was temporarily re-assigned to the hospital's Incident Command Center to help distribute PPE to members of their COVID-19 response team, the automated text and email messages maintained patients' connections with AtlantiCare. Patients continued to reach out and interact as a result of the messages, and Melanie and her team continued to respond to their questions and concerns.

Now, as AtlantiCare looks to the future and the resumption of elective surgeries, they will use SmarteXp® to help patients coordinate new surgery dates and resume preparing for surgery and recovery.
